Remote Outboard Key Panel

1st I have a 2001 H260 with mercury 9.9 bigfoot outboard motor. Installed is a Panel the houses the tack, fuel gauge, hour gauge and the key start. the problem is ... I turned the key and nothing happens... there is power to the start solenoid and a good ground. I made sure it was in neutral in case there is a neutral switch (although I don't think there is) I went through all the wiring and traced power and I don't think I am getting power to the coil with key. I can't figure out why it wont work. The motor started just fine 2 weeks ago with the only issue that I was unable to turn it off. I did find a bad connector that may have been that problem... but I now think I may need a new key box... (I haven't pulled it out yet) .. how can I find out what the make and model that was installed in the boat... I have the docs for the remote control harness kit but nothing for the key box it self, Is that a Mercury part or Hunter?

Pictures please. But sounds like just a bad connection could be a fuse holder under engine cowl

well I got into it yesterday, and after pulling the whole thing apart I found the issues ... took awhile because of there being multiple wires bad in the harness between the key and the motor... seems corrosion had set in close to the motor side and rusted a few wires apart and creating a intermittent connection. One was the start solenoid and one was the oil light and one was the electric choke. amazing that they all went at the same time. now to replace the harness, glad I found out on land!

Your engine was built by Toatsu for Mercury. They also made the Nissan. Not sure about controls

have the motor running quite well... but it wont shut off by the key thinking its the ecm ... cant find any other way it would be shut off except by a signal to it..

The key is a mercury standard (Mercury Quicksilver ignition switch assebly, part number 84-893449A01)
and Harness is a 892473A01 it has a housing that holds the ignition and buzzer and mounts to the panel, thats what through me ...... thinking I need the wiring code for the ignition to be sure its not the emc unit. red-yel = soloniod, blk-yel = choke, red = powr, blk = ground, gray = ignition, purple and brown = buzzer, they all seamed to work

I got it to work, what a pain... found another bad connection I overlooked.... now it turns off with the key...
but now the tach stopped working... Does any one know where the tach gets its signal from ? I know that a 4cly engine is from the neg side of the coil, but this is a reg/alt OB...

Get a analog meter one with an arm. And put on connection at tac to see if gauge bad the meter will tic up and down with the pulses
