So were on to another project. It's time to add shift and throttle controls to our 1997 H26. We decided on a Morse SL-3 side mount control, and two teleflex 6 ft cables w/ mercury adapters. So now we are debating where to mount the control. We will most likely mount it inside the starboard side of the cockpit, just aft of the small port from the aft birth. Has anyone else done this to their H26? Where did you decide to mount the control? Thanks very much! kevin

That's where the dealer installed it.

Kevin, On my 1996 model, the dealer installed the controls in that place. They are a little low to reach standing up, but they are easily operated by foot. Mike Pajewski H26 "Loon"

I replaced mine with Edson pedestal mounted

shift and throttle levers. I had a control like the one you want to install and founnd it to be a pain to use, cuz I always had to get someone to move their leg and I had to be looking or crouching down to deal with it. This year I added 2 10' Edson cables and levers, best project I ever added. But if you don't have wheel steering, the one you are thinking of adding should be fine. Good luck! Tom

Typical cost?

How much does this type of modification typically run? Parts? Labor? Thanks - Ron Mehringer s/v Hydro-Therapy

Cable length

My dealer installed a control on my 240. He used 6ft cables as well. When I decided to make my rudder tiller connection, so I could turn the motor, I had to replace them with 9ft cables. Just food for thought. Russell s/v summer luvin'
