We had 8" of snow and a few inches of sleet a few days ago and yesterday and today it is around 50 degrees. I went to check on my c22 and was within a half inch of flooding the cabin. Apparently my cockpit drains are still frozen and not draining as fast as the snow is melting. I have her all bailed out now and plan on pouring some warm water down the drains to help melt. I really need to put in some bigger transom mounted drains in instead of those tiny 1/2" stock drains.

Catalina 36 Oyster Bay
Seen that...

A 30 footer sank on the dock in NY area in that warm weather. Salvage guys are having trouble raising it. Appears to me there was a tarp over the forward hatch for leaks, but the cockpit was exposed and filled.
Saw a Catalina 36 with a bad list due to snow and ice build up on one side, my C36 was a project to get heavy snow/ice slabs to break up and slide off into the water. Under the cover one of the cockpit drains was frozen from some snow thaw that made it inside.
These things happen!

You can always use a pipe heating cable (available at Home Depot etc.) threaded doen the cockpit drains to keep them open.
