Rockport area

Take a look at the area around Rockport. CC bay is shallow in spots and the CC City Marina doesn't let you stay on your boat. Aransas Bay is a good sailing area and you can enter the gulf at Port Aransas if you want to. There is a devolpment called Key Allegro at Rockport that has homes on a canal and you can tie your boat up at your back door. Good luck.

Port Lavaca

Port Lavaca has a nice marina Nautical Landings. It has some of the cheaper rates around. That is where I have my boat. It doesn't have real easy access to to the Gulf but we are able to sail in the bay. Palacios also has very nice Marina - Serendipity. It is alot more expensive, but you have a little better access to the Bay with deeper water. Both except live aboards. Port Lavaca is about 25 miles from Victoria and Palicios is 55 miles

Where on the coast?

Hello Carl, We started sailing in Corpus Christi back in the late 80's and moved to Beaumont, New Orleans, and now Houston. What city will you be based out of. Grant

Relocating...

I too agree with Jim re Key Allegro in Rockport. We go every year for one month and lease a condo on Little Bay. Park your car in front, boat at the back, swimming pool, fish cleaning stand and great resturants at great prices. Lots to do including birding, art studios, maritime museums, shopping etc. Average depth of Aransas Bay is 10 to 12 feet and great sailing. Rockport has a city harbor with transient facilities complete with water and electrical hookups at reasonable prices. We go in the fall when the fishing is great and plenty of wind. The Rockport Chamber of Commerce telephone number is 800-826-6441. Jesse

Rockkport - Other areas

I have been looking at real estate listings? Are there other areas besides Key Alegro? What about the Copano (sp) side of 35? Is there a bridge hight consideration? Any information is appreciated. Many Thanks S/V Following Sea

No. Water Depth Problem

in the Copano bay area. If you don't sail it would be a great place.
