I may be relocating from Chicago to the Philadelphia area and I am concerned about finding the appropriate location to move my 36mkII. I realize that New Jersey offers a large expanse of coast line but is there one location better than the other? Your help will guide me as to where I should purchase my home and move the boat. Thanks, Vince

Chesapeake Offers the Best Crusing

Without question you should keep your boat on the Chesapeake. You could cruise for years and still not see all there is to see. Very few sailboater's keep their boat on the jersey shore, the shore is wonderful, but for sailing the Chesapeake is world class. I keep my boat( 36mk11) in Rockhall, on the eastern shore, within a few hours sail to Annapolis, St. Michael's, and Baltimore's inner harbour, not to mention many other places to explore. If you want I can tell you more, my daytime number is 215-822-7110, I would be happy to discuss marina's etc.

Check out Barnegat Bay, NJ

Dear Vince, My family and I love Barnegat Bay NJ. It's not a very deep bay, but there's always a good wind in the summer (unlike the Chesapeak Bay)and you can't beat the beaches on Long Beach Island. Check out the marina called High Bar Harbor Yacht Club in Barnegat Light on the northern tip of long Beach island. It's great!

Welcome to PA Vince. I live Bucks County in a town called Lahaska located approx. 45-50 minutes north of down town Philly. We sail our '93 C36 called "Cheers" on the Chesapeake out of Great Oak Landing Marina located in Fairlee Creek (Eastern Shore of the Bay). While it is a 2 1/2 hour drive, we have found the Marina and it's staff offers our family a variety of options such as immediate access to the Bay, 9 Hole Executive golf course + minature golf, pool, yacht club, resturant & bar plus beach bar, tennis, volleyball and more + a great group of sail boaters including a group of us with 36's. For the Bay, it offers not only great sailing but many places to visit like Annapolis, Balitmore, St Michaels, Oxford...the list goes on, as well as many great locations for overnight achoring. If you want more info, my email address is agolden@salesandmarketing.com
