Relocated Battery Charger

I just replaced and relocated the battery charger on my Hunter 340. I put it on the shelf under the nav table. Shorter cable & wire runs since I moved the batteries. And better monitoring visibility and ventilation than in a locker, IMO.
I need someone to tell me if I overlooked something, and there's a reason it shouldn't be there, before I make it permanent. The cooling fan is almost silent.

Does the installation instructions mention anything about clearances for cooling?

Good point, thanks, I should have checked that. But wait, sailboat owners don't need instructions, we throw them away as soon as we open the box!
No, I'll find them and check, it is a tight fit at the top. The top cooling vent opening is on the front of the case, though.

It should not make a difference. It is OK if you are going for the industrial high tech look in your cabin but in my case I think the Admiral would object.

"6" required around all sides" according to manual. I have the same charger (well the 1230P version) mounted in a locker near my batteries. I have less that the recommended space on the sides, but do have the required space on the top and bottom. Give that it may rely on a certain amount of convection to draw the heat up and away from the unit, having it mounted with the top flush to a surface may limit convection and good circulation.

As far as access, I use their remote to keep an eye on its activity.
