I am looking for the reliable jib furling system for my Hunter 25 (1980). Can somebody advise me on this?

There are probably a number of options

I also own a H25. When I purchased my boat (some 6 seasons ago) I, with the help of the brokerage, had a Schaeffer Marine 750 Series Roller Furler installed as part of the purchase agreement. I am more than satisfied with its performance. Last summer, for the first time, I had some problems with it sticking and had to bounce it back and forth to correct the situation. As I did not have a manual on the furler, I used HOW to get some ideas of what to do. I also wrote Schaeffer who responded both by phone, a quick fax followed by later with the full manual in the mail. Soap and a water flush did the trick. Cannot say enough for Schaeffer's response. There are probably a number of systems that will work well on the H25 (CDI, Harken, ProFurl, etc.) but for the trouble free service I have gotten and the rapid/professional response of Schaeffer Marine, I have to recommend the 750 Series for your boat.

I like CDI...

They are reliable, affordable and easy to install and they have their own internal halyard, so yo can still use your jib halyard to hoist your spinnaker or for mast raising if you have a gin pole system like the H26.

CDI furler

I have a CDI furler on Sail La Vie, A 23,5 and am well satisfied with it. I trailer and it is easy to rig and as tom says you can still use the jib halyard for other things.
