Spring is comming.. There is a sponser on a particular power boat web site that I am a part of. The boaters that use it swear by it. Has any of the sailors here used the multi season paint? The company claims it good for sailboats too.. Hummmmm what do you think? I saw about a 40 foot power cruiser with the black bottom in her fourth season at the Cutty Sark Marina near Hampton Va at the southern Chesapeake Bay area. Boat had been sitting and there was some slime at the waterline, but when a brush on a stick was used to brush the slime it just sloughed off so easy like wiping milk off a table, leaving the pretty black bottom paint. Very impressive. Go to their web site and let me know..

another magic dust potion?

I went to the specification page and it contains lots of rhetoric but no specs - makes me wonder... The mfg says that the paint etches metallic as well as plastic containers making retailers appartently unwilling to stock it - I'm getting more cynical as I read. What does this stuff do to the gelcoat and fiberglass? Also, it's one tangible claim of having a high percentage copper isn't of any real importance with ablative paint. The conventional wisdom is that the rate of sloughing (making fresh copper surface available) dictates efficacy, not copper concentration. My uneducated opinion about their claim is that it sounds like magic dust. I have $40/gal bottom paint on our sailboat which has been in the water for 2 years straight as of this time and can easily wipe away any crud that's on the hull - means little in terms of paint quality or value.

that's a gallon?

Don, Hummmm $40.00 / gallon is not pricey. Is that sold as a Multi season and relaunchable too? I have been using Micron plus and think when I get it at Wally World at $54.00 a Quart it to be a deal. It is good for four years with touch-up.I know that when the SS-bottom paint is applied it is not pretty because of the extra ( 62% copper oxide content.) bleeds through. But after in the water awhile it looks like any other. forget copper content

Check the concentration of copper is very misleading when considering efficacy of bottom paint. It's more a function of how the formulation makes available copper to do it's intended thing. Exaggeration for effect - if 100% copper was somehow limited in it's ability to interact with critters, it's useless. The Micron Plus is an excellent bottompaint and doubtful you'll find anything much better. With respect to the $40/gallon paint, I should have prefaced my comment with the fact that was the employee discount price for CPP ablative at the store in which I used to work. I think the copper content is around 35% which I've used for 4 years now with touchup every 2.
