Recently a friend of mine gave me an old MarkII sextant made by Pioneer Instruments. It still has the last calibration papers in the wooden box from 1942. The sextant obviously needs to have the mirrors resilverd and to be recalibrated. I am thinking of keeping it more as a conversation piece than for actual use since I just purchased an Astra IIIB from Celestaire. My question is -=- does anybody know where I can send this to be checked out and have the mirrors done Charlie Gruetzner S/V Angels' Grace

Clock shop?

There's a place here in Portland, Captain's Nautical, who has a clock repair shop and I *think* they do sextants as well. I know they fix barometers, etc. You might start at a small marine shop and go from there. LaDonna

Sextant Repair

Threr is a company on the Boston waterfront that does maintenance and rebuilds of sextants. I beleive it is called White Instruments. It is owned and operated by Ridge White. His first name is actually Eldridge and he is of the family that publishes Eldridge Tide Tables. Dick
