At the end of last season I noticed a small (3/4") rip on the edge of my 150 Genoa. The sails came with the boat and where a bit grungy. I was planning a refit of the boat, so over the winter I dropped-off all of them to a Newport sailmaker for a good cleaning and refurbishment. While at the shop they gave them a good bath, installed patches on the jib that rub against the spreaders and bow pulpet, new slides on the main, slugs on both jibs, tell tails on all, a new Oday-23 Insignia and numbers on the main sail. This was perhaps one of the best financial moves I made during the refit. The sails are like brand new, handle like a dream and really are the finshing touch to the entire project. Considering the cost of replacing the sails, the total cost of $600 was a bargain and really increases the value of the boat. HAPPY SAILING

Sails

It looks good Bill! I'm going to have to do something like that to my Main Sail. It still has great shape to it, but I'm starting to see signs of wear in certain areas. We made it down to Potter's Cove on Thursday and it was beautiful for sleeping. It got down to 55 degrees in there at night. Caught two Stripers but no keepers, just casting a popper. Then we sailed to Dire Island for some beach combing. A stop at East Passage Yachting Center to get some boat stuff in the chandlery rounded off the day before we headed back to our home port of Dighton on the Taunton River. Perhaps I'll see you out there sailing the bay some day. Take care. Joe

Sail condition?

Bill. Would you happen to have a name and address for the sail maker that did your sails? Mine needs cleaning and i would like somebody to look at them for condition.

That sounds like a plan, Bill

I'll look forward to that! I don't know if you'd want to raft up with me though. My dog Penny is overly friendly and inquisitive. She would bother the heck out of you folks. I like the idea of an O'Day Rendezvouz in the Narragansett Bay area. This has always been part of my sailing area. Smooth Sailing! Joe
