We have a 2001 boat - the reefer drain is plugged - I have been able to gently insert a 4-5 foot length of #8 bare wire but it seems obstructed at that point - is there a percock or valve? I can find nothing resembling such in the engine compartment or the are just aft of the reefer. Basically, WHAT TO DO????

Can't imagine what it is.

Goode: I cannot imagine what it would be. My first thought is to see if there is a kink in the hose somewhere. I am not familiar with the configuration of the Catalina 320 so not much help there. If there is not obvious kinks, you might try boiling water. If it is organic it may help to disolve it. If you can lift your floor boards you may be able to see where the hose runs to.

Reefer Drain

Goode, my O28's drain runs to the bilge pocket and terminates in a valve, then just a short tailpiece into the pocket. I believe the purpose of the valve is to prevent cold air from constantly running into the bilge as the ice melts. When done with the ice box for awhile, I open the valve, the box drains and the water gets pumped overboard. It most certainly was not apparent at the time I was investigating a constantly running bilge pump that was draining my battery. Hope this helps. Bill, O22 Closure, O28 Aroundtuit

Refer Drain

When we took delivery of our new Hunter this year we had the same problem. The refer would not drain, in fact it was taking on water. I tried sticking things down the drain assuming something was stuck in the line, as it clearly ran straight to the bilge. I finally pulled up a few more floor boards and got my head far enough into the bilge to see that the bilge pump line and refer line were crossed over and Hunter had hooked the bilge pump to the refer drain line after the check valve. Took just a few minutes to fix, a few more to clean out what the bilge pump had pumped into the refer. You might want to make sure that you can indentify by actual use each drain line in the boat and where it goes to. Dan Jonas (S/V Feije)

Does "warranty" apply. For the price of these

lovely toys a person should not have to put on a coat with badges certifying what he/she can repair. I wore one of those coats long enough, to earn enough, to play this game. The contest should be quality control, not damage/repair control. Ray S/V Speedy

Y-Valve under head sink

On the C320, there is a Y-valve under the head sink that connects both the refrigerator drain and the shower sump drain to an electric pump. Both lines are clearly labeled. In one valve position, you can drain the shower sump by pushing the pump button on the side of the sink. In the other valve position, the same button will drain the refrigerator. It works real well - I'm surprised your dealer did not show it to you.
