Successful conversion to Lithium Fe, inverter/charger and DC-DC charger, MPPT solar charger, blue tooth monitoring with Victron App. Very useful and easy to make your own custom cables for installation. I will post components, pictures and comments if anyone is interested. My wife appreciates me being able to make her morning coffee three different ways (propane/hot water-french press, AC single unit coffee cup, AC drip maker. We might even go wild and crazy and get a small ice cube maker.

One of the most useful features is that we can better analyze power usage and the percent charge of the batteries. The biggest power draw is our "original" (almost 30 years) cold plate refrigerator and freezer. It takes hours for them to reach the proper temps and the compressors run continually. Combined they use about 10+ A and they never achieve the proper duty cycle. Not sure if it is even worth trying to repair them. I would rather invest in new units.

So the obvious question does anyone know the actual volume of the areas. Not at the boat now, but my guestimates (internal L X W X H) are about 7 cubic feet for the refrigerator and 3-5 cubic feet for the freezer. Looking at isotherm 2501 as a replacement for both. Don't think I'll go with the cold plate or water cooled since the boat is already splashed and sailing.

Something really special when monitoring the shunt on the Victron app and seeing the "infinity" symbol.

It looks that your frige and freezer are low on freon. Each compressor draws around 5A running, but shuld not run more than 50% even in tropics. You can find good threads in this forum and in Cruisers Forum.

Hi SV Maverick,
I too have tired refrigerator compressor. Was slow to cool then abruptly stopped working this week. Mine seems locked, good fuse, fan runs but shorting the thermometer leads fails to start the compressor. ( if others have ideas I'm listening). This is the fist summer we've owned the boat and still learning, a lot. I appreciate the help from this forum.
I have from previous owner a freezer compressor Isotherm that works great. The label is very dificult to access ?42309BA100000.

Did you discover the volumes of the galley units?
What unit did you decide upon for the refrigerator? I'm ready to buy one too.

After properly recharging I gained only temporary improvements. Compressors ran continually. Decided to go with Costal Climate Control and Frigoboat system. They have a planning matrix to help pick the system components.

Doing it slightly differently by making a spill over system with digital controls. I currently have two compressors and two holding plates.
Waiting for components mid July. I'll let you know how it turns out if you like.

I remembered that I had measured the volumes many years ago. It took me a while to find it in my notes-

The refrigerator is 7.25 cubic feet and has a top loading-hatch and a front-loading door. The thickness of the walls and the hatch and door is about 3”. The freezer is 3.5 cubic feet in size and only has a top–loading hatch. The freezer hatch is also 3” thick.

I hope this helps. Sorry for the delay.

Once years ago the traditional boat fridges were good and the Danfoss compressor unit was great. Today many things have changed and it depends on your use and what your doing and whatyou have
Many of the production boat systems struggle to coupe in the tropics, basically because their insulation is too thin and the efficencies in technology haven't caught up.If your not in the tropics its probably not so much of a problem. I had 3 Danfos units, 1 fridge and 2 firdge/freezer boxes. In all yep they had a run duty cycle of about 70%. Then there is a repair problem. Marine refrigeration always cost you more. Bottom line I replaced mine all mine with typical house hold unit. see Refrigeration | Screensaver (wordpress.com)
