Refrigeration Problem

The refrigerator quit sometime Saturday night. The problem did not seem critical at the time in as much as we were able to drink all the beer before it got warm. However, now it needs to be fixed. The fan runs, I think I hear the compressor start, but it doesn't get warm. Fuses are okay, the electrical connections were loose, they are tight now. The LED is not flashing any code. I don't know the model, but my boat is a 2001 H320. I'm open for suggestions. Thanks, Bill

Time for a refrigeration man.

From what you describe, it could be a lot of things. If the compressor is not getting hot I don't think is starting. It could be a relay or a pressure valve or other things. Chances are is not serious. We have a 2000 h320 and the only problem that we have with it is that the temperature control switch rusted and froze in the coldest position so now it only works on off or freeze. No complaints, we'll get it fixed one day. Good luck.

Hi Bill, the control module died on our ...

AB fridge a few years ago. The symptoms...would not cool, you could hear the compressor try to start, but was not getting enough juice from the module, so it would just continue to cycle. Replaced the module and all is well. If you have an AB on your boat contact them and tell them the specific symptoms. They confirmed the bad unit and replacing it was very easy with minimal tools. Got Kids?

Had my reefer "break down" one weekend. My eldest the "scientist" wanted to see what that knob in the reefer did so he turned it. Took me cleaning all the contacts, checking CB's and the water pump before (45 minutes later) the wife suggested that maybe it is just set to warm. Bless her heart!! I actually managed to just smile and open another beer, go up on deck, take a long draw on that beer, set it down and then jump in the water. Try the simple stuff first.
