RE: Lid and Door Gastets
The purpose of a gasket around a refrigerator door or lid is not for insulation purposes. It is to stop air infiltration. The best seal is a soft material that can be compressed by the weight of the lid or the latch of the door. Sponge material as a seal needs a membrane exterior to keep moisture and bacteria out. RV supply stores and even Home Depot have these materials.
