Had a question on my 12 volt Adler Barbor unit. I'm getting the the boat ready for the first time and was wondering if there is usually an on/off switch, on the panel or someplace else? Or is it usually turned on by adjusting the thermostat inside the unit.

Also if I can't get it running, would filling it with ice work for the time being. It looks like there is a drain on the bottom that I would assume would drain to the bildge.

There should be a switch/circuit breaker for all 12 volt appliances. You reefer should have some way to protect the wiring from the panel to the compressor (fuse/CB)
You can use the reefer as an ice chest and the drain SHOULD drain to the bilges Your mileage may vary

There should be a switch on your DC panel for the refrigeration. If it was an amateur install by a previous owner then you might not have one or it may be hooked up to one of the spare breakers and not labeled.

I found it. It was on one of the spare breakers and not labeled, Thanks. How long does the unit need to run before it's cold enough to store items? I had it running for about 1/2 hour and it was cool but not cold.
