I recently removed the pedestal from my 28' S 2 due to the pulley base plate being totally rusted out. I bought the boat used and it needs some refitting. I have stripped the pedestal and will be having it repainted. I have found another plate that is in great shape so I am ready to reassemble once the pedestal is finished. Is there any tricks or special problems I should know about when attaching the pedestal back to the deck.

Just be sure that you seal it properly. I good caulking or butyl would be a good idea. If you have s.s. screws going into a metal plate, I would suggest that you put tef-gel or never sieze on the screw threads.

Getting water into the cockpit sole can be a very expensive problem to fix, so you want to prevent this if possible.
