trying to resurrect daysailer, just found out it is a type I, not type II. I am 99% sure that I have the correct replacement "step" fitting for the main mast. my confusion lies in how to attach this. If their is a diagram or a photo of the original set-up that would be most beneficial. the existing "step" is a steel block that is bolted through a hole cut in the fiberglass. affixed to the block is a piece of round steel approx. 3 inches in diameter and 1/2 - 3/4 inches thick. in the center of this round piece is something that looks like a bolt - that sticks up approx. 4 - 5 inches and it is threaded, it is about one inch in diameter. i can't believe that this half-assed looking set-up is original. i can move the whole thing back and forth and up and down. once the new step is correctly fitted, the boat will be as close to being launched as it has been in five years.
