Plan on pulling out this winter and doing a full paint job top and bottom, I would like to do something to darken the weathered toerail, I was thinking about checking on the price of parkerizing, Has anyone tried this before, or is it best to do something else with it in place? Also, what are your recommendations for topside and bottom coat paints. So many brands out there and they all promise the world in results. Which ones hold up better in salt water and have better wear and impact results, yes I do bump the dock from time to time. Who makes the best prop/shaft coating? Thanks in advance for your responses. RE: Toerail refinish

Hi. My wife wanted a project to do this spring while I was refinishing our cabin sole. Reluctantly, she took the task of painting our faded black toe rail. We bought a pint of black rust-oleum paint and some paint sponges. I should have had her sand it first but the results are still great. We have a 1980 30' hunter and the "new" toe rail makes the boat look new! Of course, she ended up with black fingernails and her blonde highlights now have black ends. Cheers.
