I have a 1986 C-22 and want to remove the oxidation from the mast. I am assuming that it is anodized which omits naval jelly as a solution. I really want to avoid imparting any type of surface pattern from an abrasive. Any suggestions?

What worked for us ......
On our C27, my lovely First Mate scrubbed the mast down using a mild soap solution and medium steel wool. Then she did it again using an extra fine steel wool. Immediately after that she used a marine aluminum polish and buffed the living day lights out of it using a drill and a few buffing pads. Several friends thought we’d bought a NEW mast! However, after telling them what she’d done to make it gleam like that, the “pole polishing” jokes started. Later, eh! Ferg
