Daly's Seafin Teak Oil
I am in the process of refinishing the entire sole in the salon on my H34. Over the winter I brought home the removalable section that covers the bilge. This allowed me to work in the comfort of my home. I used 80 grit, sandpaper to get the major dirt and dings out of the wood. I then progressed up thru 100grit.......to 220 grit to get a smooth finish.I then used Daly's Seafin Teak Oil. I applied this with a cheesecloth rag. The Seafin Teak Oil tends to give a satin finish, similar to what you find on the interior teak walls. The Profin Teak Oil, leaves a very high gloss professional finish. Refer to the "How To" section, and their is an article with pictures of the Profin Teak Oil finish. You may want to put on several coats for durability, and you should lightly sand the surface between coats. Personally, I would not want a high gloss finish on the steps. When they get wet, they will be very slippery, and a hazard. My recommendation for what you are doing the Seafin Teak Oil, which you can get at any West Marine store.
