Hi, my Beneteau 361 floor panels are getting dull. I would like to restore them and would like to find out if anyone did that and how to proceed. Can I just sand lightly and re apply a pre-catalyzed lacquer. Thanks in advance for the help.

It all depends what your floor panels are made of,most likely teak and holly veneer on plywood.
In that case the veneer would be quite thin, and with sanding it,the danger of sanding through to the plywood.
My suggestion;clean with acetone or lacquer thinner,if it looks acceptable, apply several coats of exterior urethane or varnish,if compatible with the existing finish.Worst case you might have to strip it.
A pre-catalyzed lacquer will not stand up to foot traffic very well.

We just use a light coat of Sikkens and it works fine. I would not sand it for all the reasons mentioned by the above replies.

Thank you Cymeyer. Did you apply the Sikkens with a paint brush or did you use a spray gun? What Sikkens did you buy?
Thank you very much for the info. I am preparing my 361 for trip to the Bahamas next winter, leaving Lake Champlain around mid September and returning at the beginning of May.
