Using ultimate sole
I used ultimate sole on my cabin sole. Here's what I found out; 1)It has good building quality (for a one-part product), it's easy to maintain a wet edge, and no brushmarks or bubbling (use a good foam brush). 2) You'll need to use a sander sealer if you strip the wood (get the edges too). 3) A can goes futher than the company claims, but you'll need more coats than they claim (I used eight coats/2 cans on my 33' with new wood). 3) Although mine has been down only a year, it has stood up well through the other projects I have done and provides good footing, epecially with boat shoes. 4) Its resistance to chipping is good, but it will scratch like anything else. 5) No UV protection, but a heck of a lot better looking than cetol.6) The price isn't bad. Oh yeah, very light sanding between coats- just a once over.I put a few coats on other hard use surfaces, like the galley molding and the nav station, and it looks fine. Good luck
