Due to some issues at home, I have listed my 170 on this site, but have not had any response, so I may be keeping her after all. If I do, I may have reefing points added (not standard on a 2003). Does anyone know what this may cost?

Sorry for the typo

Subject title should be Reefing Points....not oints!

Just added them!

I just added them to my 170. I took my sail to St. Louis Sailing and they added one reef point for $60.00. It took about 3 weeks from taking it in, to getting the sail back.

Reefing points cost

George, First of all, I hope you get to keep the 170! On topic now, I just had a SECOND set of reef points put into my 170's main. I sent the sail to North Sails in Tampa and the installation cost $70. The entire process, from sending to them to receiving the sail back again was only about 4 days. Of course, a primary reef may cost a "tad" more because my second reef only has two cringle-tie points. By the way, I've never had to use the second reef, but if I'm ever caught by surprise in rising winds and the motor dies, I might be able to hobble home deeply reefed, with no jib. To see what a doublereefed 170 looks like, go to my photo forum on this page! Mike G. Alachua, FL

Differing times for installation

Wow! Reading Stu's email on turnaround time for his reef points might be a good lobby toward sending to North Sails to have reef points installed! Looks like his install was cheaper 60. as opposed to 70., but three weeks to get it back!? -I now GREATLY appreciate having received mine back from North in a few days! MG
