reefing and 240, I tried to reef the main over the weekend. I just bought the boat so I thought I should figure out how. I've figured out the reefing aspects but realized I need to have a line running to the mast top and to the aft end of the boom to make the main reefing work. The previous owner supplied a long bridle wire with loops on either end. Is this the line for the topping lift?

Ken, My 95 H26 has a line from the mast top..

that stops about 1 foot above the rear end of the boom as the boom is held level. On the port side of the boom is a line that runs from the cleat at the front to the rear and clips to the mast line and forms the topping lift. The boom height is adjusted by this line. The center line in the boom is the outhaul and the starboard line is the reef line on my boat. Hope this helps. Ray
