Reduce smoking (exhaust)

I have a 2000 Hunter 290. The boat is like new with 280 hours on engine. However, it is only used from Memorial Day to Labor Day each year. Any suggestions to reduce smoking on starting and when I increase RPM's.

What color is the smoke, blue, white or black? Does it smoke at a steady rpm? And Has it done this since new?

Buy your diesel from Chevron

My diesel mechanic said to change to Chevron that he has seen a some boat that smoke and this will help with the color/or smoke. He has a diesel truck and chg. oil companies and has more power and better mpg.
