Has anyone found a better setup for the salon table in a newish Beneteau? I have a 37, but I think the table set up is common on various sizes of that model. It just seems entirely too big and the "trunk" takes up way more space than necessary, as best as I can tell. Would also be nice if the table dropped down and converted into a birth. Just looking for some ideas if anyone has undertaken such a project.

Thanks. Thats actually a picture of my table presently installed. Looking to make it smaller and convertible.
I found that table way too big. I have a B331. See the picture attached. I made it from American Cherry, and banded the edge.

I note the European version of my boat has a folding table, which would be better. With the original one, you had to move sideways to get to the v-berth.

Got it. Thanks. Mine is built up from the floor and is a lot bigger (like the one pictured above). I would like to convert it to something less obtrusive.
Yeah you could. But worse than the size of the top itself is the size of the wooden box supporting it, and the fact that the corners of that box are in the perfect places to clip your knees.
I think that's the most annoying thing about the set up is how big the trunk is. That will be one of my winter time projects... trying to design something a little less robust!
