COLREGS rule 25 states:Rule 25Sailing Vessels Underway and Vessels Under Oars(a) a sailing vessel underway shall exhibit:(i) sidelights;(ii) a sternlight.(b) In a sailing vessel of less than 20 meters in length the lights prescribed in paragraph (a) of this Rule may be combined in one lantern carried at or near the top of the mast where it can best be seen.(c) A sailing vessel underway may, in addition to the lights prescribed in paragraph (a) of this Rule, exhibit at or near the top of the mast, where they can best be seen, two all-round lights in a vertical line, the upper being red and the lower Green, but these lights shall not be exhibited in conjunction with the combined lantern permitted by paragraph (b) of this Rule.Question 1.A potetial advantage of COLREGS rule 25 part C is it does allow you to carry more lights while sailing (masthead, bow, and stern) and so possibly allow you to be more easily seen. This is more light than covered under COLREGS rule 25 part B or part A. Since the configuratation allowed by CLOREGS rule 25 part C is not commonly used would a sailing vessel carrying this configuration, (stern light, RED and GREEN bow side lights and the RED over GREEN mast head light) just cause confusion? Question 2. Does anybody on this forum do this?Question 3. Does anyone know of a commercially available three-light mast head lantern that would allow you to run under COLREGS rule 25 part C? I am not talking of the commonly available tri-color lights, rather something like a stacked three level ALL-ROUND. For example an All-round red above an all-round white above an all-round green. (The white would only be used as your anchor light, you still need an anchor light)
