..I was told this is an electric unit that connects between the 12V fridge compressor and the shore power, to enable working the fridge from shore power directly. Is it so ? any experience with this , anyone?
A rectifier will change AC power to DC power. A Transformer will change 120 VAC to 12 VAC The two together will change shore power into 12 VDC. Another name for this is a Battery Charger. While on shore power keep your frige running and your battery charger on and you are all set.
It has been said repeatedly and always bears saying again. Use the battery charger with the batteries. This will prevent any stray ac from taking out the electronics on the fridge system. There are some heavily filtered rectifiers or power supplies out there, but they are generally lab quality and very expensive. They can also weigh as much as your batteries.
