I received this e-mail today (exerpts):
"Knowing your concern regarding the proposed waste permit requirements for boaters, I am pleased to inform you that Congress took the necessary action to exempt recreational boaters and maintain the status quo . This is good news for all avid boaters in Connecticut, including the many like you who contacted my office."

"I originally cosponsored the Recreational Boating Act (H.R. 2550), introduced by Representative Gene Taylor (D-MS), which would reverse the Court's decision to require a new and stricter permit system on small recreational boats by September 2008. On June 22, 2008 the House passed a bill that originated in the Senate, S. 2766, which would extend the same exemptions for recreational vessels. This bill was signed into law by President George Bush on July 29, 2008."

Sincerely,

JOSEPH COURTNEY
Member of Congress

Important:: Send A 'Thanks' to Your Congress Rep!

Please send a follow-up thanks to your congressional reps to whom you sent your requests for an affirmative vote. Take a moment to do this because it isn't done often enough and it makes a HUGE difference next time there is an issue with that (this) interest group. Rick D.

Correction

The President signed S. 2766, “The Clean Boating Act of 2008" which is the same thing, just the Senate version after a conference committee I suspect. Best to just use the house number when writing your Representative (HR 2550) and the Senate version when writing your Senators (S 2776). Picked this info off the BUS site. Rick D.
