I am interested in finding out what an average price should be to simply recover my existing interior cushions using the same foam. I just received a quote over the phone from a lady in Alameda which was $3,500. Way out of my price range! Any help would be appreciative.

Interior cushions are really easy to reupholster. Depending, of course, on how fancy you want to get. I suggest a good book like "The Big Book of Boat Canvas" by Lipe. There is a chapter on the best fabrics and a chapter just on interior cushions. You should be able to complete the project for well under $300. assuming you have(or can rent) a sewing machine.

ditto Ed's DIY

You can do this. All it takes is a little practice with the sewing machine. The machine doesn't have to be heavy-duty. A regular home machine will work. Go to the fabric store and pick out a durable upholstry material. Practice first making corners, and installing zippers. Make several bags, etc. Pay really close attention to how the old covers were made, and use them for a pattern. I got some good tips from Don Casey's book "This old boat" (see link).

Sailrite

I bought some Sunbrella material from Sailrite and a regular sewing machine and recovered my cushions. I had never sewn anything before and they came out pretty good. If you don't want to DIY, check in the yellow pages under Upholsterers (not under Marine, that triples the price).

Cheap

I made templates of the newsly constructed seated areas on my H33. Then went to a Father/Son Foam shop where they had a supply of discounted Sunbrella fabric on hand. They also had a lady on-hand who does the sewing. $850- later all was completed and it looks amazingly professional (despite the somewhat outdated Sunbrella fabric). You can see the cushions under the Photo Forum entitled Complete H33 Refurbish. I'm sure the guy could do the same for you through UPS [Conklin Foam (410) 675-7426].
