I have my hunter p42 on the market. It was my first sailboat and I'm interested to hear any suggestions you may have as to what i should pick for my next boat. I need two cabins and decent roominess. Thanks.

If the 42 did not have enough live aboard space, I have no suggestions. You obviously have a lot more money than I.

I would look at Nautor's Swans and perhaps Bennetteaus

If you are feeling spendy. http://www.yachtcouncil.com/yacht-info.asp?vessel=68553&Currency=7&mode=4
That Swan is going for cheap mind you.
If you need to get a more affordable boat in the larger boat category look into Benneteau's. http://www.boatquest.com/Sail/Beneteau/Category/Length/36605/Feet/USD/1/boats.aspx
This one is like a modest 'pied a mer'; your home away from home.
Both boats are proven ocean cruisers. I have been on the Benneteau but not the Swan.
I sailed on a boat like this Benne from Tortola to the Turks & Caicos. Plenty of room everywhere except we were surrounded by ocean.

My first Home with a wife and a son was

a 28 foot long by 8 foot wide mobile home. You just have to learn how to live in the space available. Or you could get another identical boat and couple the two together and make a great big catamaran.

I've got three cabins and

45 acres in the Poconos in upstate NY. Will that help?

How about this

If you want a bit bigger beam and length, may I suggest the 45CC. Tons of room, tankage and storage. We live aboard ours and have lots of space and comfort. Plus she sails great!

Poconos in NY?

Gee I always thought the Poconos were in upstate PA. Did someone move them to NY? :)

Everyone knows

the Poconos were moved to New York after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor! :)

sorry . . . I wasn't clear

my passage 42 has plenty of room. I'm selling because i got it for a song and i'm trying to make a little money. I'm looking for anything between 37 and 42 that is below 60,000 and has two cabins and was built well enough to not come apart at the seems. Thanks

Check yacht world

Go onto www.yachtworld.com and put in the specs you want. Length, price, year etc and see what's out there. Obviously some names have better reputations than others so take it from there.

I would reconsider

Right not the boat market is certainly a buyers market. You have a 42, that apparently was a bargain. Hopefully you know the condition, and you said nothing about it being in bad shape. Sounds to me like you have a fantasy of moving down a few feet, still having plenty of room, and making a pocket full of money in the deal. More than likely it won't work like that. Boats are not selling very well right now. I just sold a 28, and at least in my mind had to practically give it away. I would recommend you keep what you have, and sail it. Unless of course, you just don't like the boat.

Excuse me but I'm trying to sell this guy a three cabin layout with space

to move about. Now if y'all excuse me.
Are you still interested? Great views and clean water.
Keep it up,
