It's now after Christmas - so thoughts naturally turn to next saliling season - and what we might want to purchase to upgrade Grasshopper III (H-260) to make her more 'LOOP' worthy.

Have any of you invested in and/or used and/or have opinions on specifics regarding

a. 12 Volt refrigerators / freezers for use on a H-260? West Marine has a number of 'Coolers' that plug into a 12 volt plug that offer this capability. Any thoughts?
b. AutoPilots - for use with the Wheel Steering of the Hunter 260?

Any comments will be appreciated.

how is the weather in Missoura... I grew up in the Puxico, bloomfield, poplar bluff area... love the area, just no jobs...

look on e-bay for fridge... but not in the boat area.. check out the auto section.. they have lots of them there... that is where I got the fridge for my boat... it is a coleman and works like a fridge cooler, or an upright fridge... it has both the 12v dc and 110v ac plugs for it

I like it a lot...very versatile, and roomy... it is a 1.2 cu/ft....very energy efficient too...

Good point ... generally any component from an RV area is about 50% the cost of the same component with 'Marine' attached to the description.

It's interesting ... I grew up in Bloomington, Indiana (50 miles south of you) ... but now live in Missouri. Weather is presently cold - but due to warm up by New Year's Day. I sail primarily in Lake Carlyle, Illinois; but also trailer to Kentucky Lake and to the Great Lakes. What about you - do you put in in Monroe Reservoir? Lake Potaka (sp?). I really miss (Southern) Indiana.

I belong to the Indianapolis Sailing Club at Geist Res.... but I sail at Geist Res, Eagle Creek Res, and Lake Monroe... I have several buddies I work with who have their boats at Lake Monroe... this coming summer a fellow veteran and I plan to take our boats to Kentucky lake for a week or 2... my vet friend sails his boat mainly in Eagle Creek Res... also we are planning a trip to the great lakes for some sailing too... have you ever sailed at Rend Lake... I have seen it many times when I drive going home to visit my mom and family... I am told it is a great lake for sailing...

the weather is cold here too, and trying to snow...

when I take trains to St. Louis, I stay in the hotel in Collinsville, ill... the rail yard is in roselake, ill.

Just for the record - do you know a Rich Fox in your sailing club? He was at one time the Leader of the Catalina 22 Sailing Association. A really great guy and sailor!
