I have a 1987 Catalina 30. I just bought new recessed windows from catalinaowners.com to replace my crazed/cracked original ports and I'm alittle nervous about the job. The hull seems curved and I'm thinking the glass will pop out before seal sets. The original ports have screws to hold the glass but the new replacements do not. Has anyone done this retro fit? All comments/suggestions appreciated.

The glue/sealant that comes with the kit (from Cruising Concepts, right?) will hold the windows just fine. You may have to tape the windows down while the sealant cures, but it will set up and hold the windows just fine.

I had the same concern as you, so I taped the windows down when I installed them. Be sure to put masking tape around the windows about 1/4" or less to keep the mess down. Clean up is easy with alcohol.

You will like the look after you're done!

You can prebend the plexiglas by heating it, then shaping it to the curve you want. There are demonstrations of the technique if you google it. Check out youtube also.
