Hello!

I recently acquired a 2002 306 and would like to swap out the cabin lights for LEDs. Apparently, the recessed lighting has been discontinued, but the incandescent replacement can be obtained here:

My question is, has anyone replaced these with LEDs? Is there a fixture that will fit the existing mounts or that are easily adaptable? Alternatively, is it possible to just swap out the little incandescent bulbs for LEDs?

Thanks for any help!

Here are some other G-4 replacements. I use these in warm white for main cabin light. Very good light and bright.

Just check to be sure they'll fit in the housings and will be oriented correctly. I had to turn the base on one of my fixtures to get the LED's to face correctly.
EDIT: Make sure you know your pin orientation.. These come in "back pin" or "side pin" .. usually if the bulb is pointed out of the fixture, you'll need a back pin.. If the bulb is laid horizontally in the fixture, you'll need a side pin unit. I used to show about 4.5 ampere draw with three lights on in the cabin.. now with LED's it is right at one ampere.

Replaced all the lighting in my 2005 Hunter 306 with LED bulbs. All bought from China, cost was less then $30 shipped to my door. Ceiling list side pin G4 bulbs. Been running with them all season, no issues.

Here are ones I used

I tried various ones, cool white, warm white, various lumens, etc., you have to bend the leads a little but they fit in the fixture. I tried some others from Defender but their diameter was too large.

Thank you all!

This is fantastic info! I ordered a couple of G4 LEDs and will try them on the boat this weekend. If they work as expected I'll buy the rest.

Thank you again for all your feedback!

Take care in your selection of LED bulbs.

+1 for using a properly controlled setup. Shorts etc due to over powering is not something I want to be wrong on. Other threads here warn if potential electrical short fires while your charging system increases power output. I'm no expert with electricity, but follow Hello Below's link for a proper description.

I did buy lights from Marinebeam and am happy with their selection and customer service.

Thanks HB!

I have also replaced all halogens with LED G4 replacement bulbs. I have bought the soft white ones because I don't like the cool white. Of course this is a personal taste. Colour wise they don't seem that good because the colour of some are yellow-white (as expected) but some others have a bluish color! But who cares, there were so cheap....Consumption wise, they are EXCELLENT. How long they will last? I don't know yet. I just bought them a couple of months ago.

The plastic on my main cabin recessed lights was yellowing and some of the bezels were cracking and splitting. I replaced them all with these:

They work great, I think they're very affordable, and they fit in the exising holes. I just needed to drill some new mounting holes for the provided screws, because they don't lne up with the old screw holes.
