I am in search of a rebuilt Yanmar 1GM for a Hunter 27. Does anyone know of any availability, perferably on the East Coast; the closer to NJ the better. Also, has anyone replaced a 1GM with a 1GM10?

Replaced 1SB with a 1GM10
We got a great deal on a slightly used (50 hour) 1GM10 from Torreson Marine. The 1GM10 is smaller and lighter than the 1SB. We did have to build new mounts, but that was not a big deal.
I did find a fellow in Bayfield, WI, at one of the marinas there who had quite a collection of used Yanmar engines. He offered to rebuild and deliver one in exchange for our 1SB at a reasonable price. I was headed in his direction until I stumbled on the engine Torreson was selling.
The 1GM10 is a great engine for our '77 h27. With a new Campbell prop, It will drive us at hull speed in flat water, and we averaged 5.5 knots motoring and motorsailing on our cruise to the north channel and back last summer.

I got a 3GM30 rebuilt from Al Holzer in Bayfiel Wisconsin. Reasonnable pricing, fantastic service and help and absolutely no problem honoring the warranty when I called him with some issues. If i am not mistaken, he is now also Yanmar certified and I know he has rebuilt some engines for Mack Boring. He may be able to help you. Don't hesitate to mention my name. Don't despair, Al spends 2 months in Brazil before returning to Bayfield generally late March or early April. While down there his access to email is rather limited and it may be days before he gets back to you. no problem with that when he is in Bayfield. suggest you try another email. Good Luck
