Rebuilt my SeaEra toilet today

Fun things to do in the morning before the temps hit 98. I had a rebuild kit for the water pump on the SeaEra toilet that I took on the trip to the Bahamas this year but didn't swap things out until I got back.

Easiest thing was to remove the hoses, discharge hose, the bowl, unbolt the lower half and motor from the floor. Now it is very easy to remove the pump from the motor and replace the guts... Changed the joker valve also, it was 3 years old. While everything was out, I cleaned and cleaned everything in the head, walls, floor, everything....

All went back together and works....took about hour and half to complete...
This was the first rebuild on the pump.. If memory serves me, I got the SeaEra back in 1998 and was over due for a rebuild...

Hi Jim, long time not hearing from you. Seems like it's been about 3 years since you, your wife and I all got together with Peggie for lunch, in Annapolis during the Sail Show. (If I remember right, you got stuck with the luch tab...)

Glad to hear that everything went reasonably well during the rebuilding of your intake pump. They aren't terrible to do (I've done a few) but it is a little tedious. If you follow the step-by-step instructions, between removing everything, cleaning the parts, then putting it all back together, an hour and a half is about right. Those diaphragm intake pumps hold up a lot better than the earlier heads that used flexible rubber impellers in the intake pump. They were more maintenance-intensive and had to be re-done more often. Now, you should be good-to-go for the next several years. Enjoy the rest of the boating season!
