HI Everyone,
I'm new here.
I just bought a Cherubini 27 with an RC8D 1cylinder diesel engine. Its currently on hard at the boat yard. I have guy rebuilding it. He replaced the starter and got the thing running, but now he says we need a sea water pump.
Anyone got a good source for engine parts on these things.
The RC8D is a Renault Couach Marine engine. I understand they were manufactured by a German company and were eventually bought by BMW. Of course they don't make them anymore.
YouTube has a video of a guy who bought one. Set it up in his garage and bench tested it. It looks a cool engine.

I got a feeling I'll be needing more parts soon, any help would be greatly appreciated

Rebuilding

Since The engine is built by a auto manufacture then more than likely they didn't make the sea water pump find some numbers on it and google Sherwood or someone probably makes it

Are you sure you need the whole pump? or just the impeller?

There is a guy named Tony who can be reached at rcouach@aol.com who has been helpful to me regarding parts.

There is also a forum on Yahoo. I have posted an owner's manual for this motor on that site.

If the boat has been on the hard, make sure the water passages have been flushed somehow and you have good flow or else you'll have overheating problems.

Other than that, as for other parts, you're no likely to need many. This is a simple, reliable and incredibly fuel-efficient engine.

Pump or Impeller

Hi Tom,
Thanks for your input.
I was thinking about that myself.
I'll ask the mechanic about that.
I'll also check out the yahoo forum, sounds good.
As regards Tony at RCM, I ordered a starter from him, it was sent, my mechanic tried to use it but said it didn't work, they found a local starter that did work. I had to send the starter back. To make a long story short, it's a big hassle and Tony's probably not too fond of me right.
He seems like a good guy, I just wish the starter had worked.
As regards the water pump, I hope it's the impeller...I think I can buy one from Sailboatowners.com if need be. I'll also check the water passages for blockage.

Thanks for your advice.
