Are rebuild parts/kits available for the manual waste pump on 84 H31? I'm pretty sure mine is the original one. I think the manuf was "Munster" or something like that. Primarily I need the rubber diaphram that makes the thing work (mine really reeks.) I know that it's been discussed here before, but darned if I can find it in archives. Any info would be appreciated.

Stinky Munster

Don: I would recommend that you junk this old unit and purchase a new high quality pump. While you are at it you should be looking at the hoses too. All of these items will cause stinko conditions. Replaced all of these items several years ago and the boat is still odor free.

Rebuild it!

The brand name "Munster" doesn't ring any bells...can't think of anything close. But you do need to find out what it is, 'cuz it's VERY important that you buy the parts intended for a particular make/model toilet or pump, 'cuz few are interchangeable.

I disagree, Steve...

That is, unless "Munster" pumps were cheap junk to begin with. There's not much to wear out in a diaphragm pump BUT the diaphragm and few seals...replace 'em, and you have a whole new pump except for the housing. If it's cracked, then of course, replace the whole thing. As for replacing all the hoses, that depends upon whether they've permeated or not. And there's a simple test for that: wet a rag in HOT water...wring it out and wrap it around the hose (test all sections and use a new rag for each one)...let the rag stay there till it cools...then remove it and smell it. If you can smell sewage on the rag, the hoses need replacing...if you can't, they don't.
