Peggy: I have a Raritan Crown II head, about 1992 vintage, that I want to rebuild while it is out of the boat. I asked Raritan via their web site for a recommended rebuild kit for this head, but after 2 weeks, they still haven't answered. So my question is, is there a rebuild kit, and since the pump and vanes don't seem to be worn (I don't think the head was used much), is all I need to do is replace all the rubber seals, o-rings and joker valve? I've already installed new hoses.

1992 vintage Crown II ???

Boy, you have an early one! I'm really surprised you didn't get an answer to your e-mail...'cuz they're very good about reading and responding. The Crown II takes the "CSRK" Crown Head Repair kit. The impeller is in it, and yes...you should replace it. Sitting for long periods, especially in a salt water/salt air environment, dries it out...salt--and no salt--makes it stick to the house...momentarily running dry till it primes...all that is MUCH harder on an impeller than constant use that keeps it wet and flexible. And btw...the same is true of ALL impellers--in toilets, macerators, engine intake pumps etc.

To Peggy about Crown II head

Thanks for the info, I am assuming that the Crown II head is of about 1992 vintage since the porcelain bowl has the words "1992 - Thailand" engraved on the underside of the gasketed surface that mates to the pump assembly. Guess it could have been built later from stockpiled parts.
