What is reasonable cruising RPM for a 1GM Yanmar???????????? On a 27' 1990 Hunter

70% of Max. Rated Output

Larry, The rule of thumb is 70% of max rated output which is around 2500 rpm (3600x70%) for your 1GM10 engine. I can't believe how many people run their diesels at 3,000 rpms! Good Luck.

70%? I've heard 80% and 90% as well?

Greetings, I have the 1GM in a '85 25.5 and would love to hear from other owners what they have found to be the right contiuous RPM for this motor. I have usually heard that 80% was the correct number, that it SHOULD be run that hard and not run lower if possible and that they should also be run under load (ie: in gear and pushing the boat).
