I'm installing a complete Raymarine System RL70, RL70rc, RC520, RC300, 215 vhf, speed, depth & tridata( Pathfinder Plus System ) with integration for a Dataline Wind and Robertson DL200 Autopilot for a voyage North to Nova Scotia. Does anyone know of a reasonably price installer in the Annapolis area. My yacht is in Shady Side. Robert

First check your boat yard to see...

if they will allow outside contractors to do the install without commisions! They may want a 20 percent cut of the install since you are bringing in an outside contractor. Tell your contractor to figure the commision when pricing. This may greatly change your installation costs. My yard gets 20 percent of all outside contractors - sweet deal for them! You may get away with it if you say that the contractor is your sister in laws ex husbands uncle. How could they ever verify that??

I don't think...

"reasonably priced" and "Annapolis" can be uttered in the same sentence! You might try a little further south in the Bay. We have had excellent service AND reasonable pricing from Marine Electronics of Deltaville and Hartfield and both are certified for ray and simrad products. # Hartfield Marine Electronics - 804-776-9802 # Marine Electronics, Inc. of Deltaville - 804-776-9500

Keep in mind

at this time of the year every boat mechanic/technician has all of the work they can handle. I doubt if any reputable installer will be willing to lower his rate when he can get top dollar for his or her services at this particular time. I ran into that situation the year I bought my boat and wanted an autohelm auto pilot installed by the yard where my boat was purchased. The unit cost a grand and the yard wanted five hundred dollars for the install. I tried to negotiate a lower price but they would have none of it so I hand steered the boat to it's final berth for three days and made the install myself a few weeks later. Good luck finding a lower than the local market price installer. In a couple of months they will work for less when the demand for what they do drops.
