Has anyone installed rear winches or had them installed on the H340. I'm looking at a couple of Lewmar 40's. How did you installation go and how did you run the sheets? I'm looking at running them inside the arch with a couple of fairleads attached to the base of the arch. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Rear Winch

Perhaps you saw my response before, but in case you have not: I have factory installed rear winches. However, I use them almost exclusively for the spinnaker. Occassionally I will use them for the jib sheets when reefing, or the main if I need to use a winch to pull it in. In such cases, I run the sheet around the base of the winch (using it as a block) on the cabin roof and back to the rear winch. However I do this only as a temporarily.

Like Jim I also have the factory installed self tailing winches. I lead the jib sheets aft from the genoa blocks through a bulls eye fairlead I mounted on the outboard side of the arch to a block fastened to the stern pulpit then fwd to the winch. Works great for me & my crew. No longer have to struggle with those unpopular sheet stoppers and was able to utilize the original sheets.
