How difficult a job is it to replace the rear engine motor mounts on the 2QM15 that was standard on the 1981 Hunter 30 ? I need someone to walk me through the process of replacing motor mounts. The front mounts look like new, but the rear ones are in bad shape, could be why I have a little vibration. Thanks

Lift it up

The entire engine can be lifted by running a halyard underneath it and cranking on the winch. You only need raise it enough to remove the two mounts, at which point you should put chocks under the block for safety and steadiness. Hence the term chock-a-block?

Do some research first!

Tom: I would suggest that you do some research first before making this change. If my memory serves me (and it has been failing for the last 30 years) there is something that says you should only change all 4 motor mounts at the same time. There was also some information that said you should only use Yanmar mounts (I know someone will argue this point, but that is the factory recommendation). I don't think that the process is that difficult, it just required a complete shaft re-alignment after the mounts are installed.

mounts

they tend to look bad after awhile, doesn't mean they need to be replaced. You can test then by prying up on them with a pry bar and see if there loose or worn. I'd make sure there bad before changing...
