Realized I left my water pump on

I am leaving town for the week and realized I didn't shut off all the swithces on my DC panel. The Bilge Pump I always leave on and is wired to the battery anyway, but I left the water pressure switch on. Will this do any damage? If so, I can have someone go shut it off. While I am on the subject, I have a battery switch (the 1,2, Off, and All) type switch with a TrueCharge10TB Multi-Stage battery Charger installed and all plugged in to shore power. The battery charger has a switch to turn on and off. Not sure when I would use the switch? Maybe when I am not plugged into shore power??? But when I leave the boat, I am plugged into shore power, turn battery charger on, turn battery switch to "Off" position and plug in my West Marine circular dehumidifier.

I also shut the raw water valve and head raw water valve.

Anyone have any suggestions? Biggest question is should I have someone go shut off my water pump switch or will the battery switch in the off position kill it???

The DC panel should not be powered with the battery switch off.

The battery charger switch is on the AC panel. If the batteries are charged many turn the charger off so it doesn't provide a constant float charge. Also if you are disconnecting the batteries for any reason it should be off.

Awesome, Thanks! So that answers my water pressure question. On my H27, the AC Panel is a double switch on the DC Panel which is on. The battery charger has a seperate PO installed toggle switch by the batteries. But that is great info. So should I return to dock, plug into shore power and let charger top off the batteries, secure the boat (which takes 20-30 minutes) and then shut off battery charger switch? Leaving just AC power powering dehumidifier???? I guess the bilge pump will use the batteries but I am down there weekly. I have a week old set of Trojan batteries (start and house).

The double breaker is not the proper way to wire the AC unless it leads off to single breakers of the correct rating for each circuit. The double breaker is 30 amp and it cannot effectively protect the 15 amp circuits like the battery charger. Many boats were wired this way in the past, Catalina being another besides Hunter. On a panel with individual breakers for each circuit the po installed switch would not be necessary.

During the season I would leave the charger on between sails. But the switch as I posted has some uses.

Thanks! Sounds like I need to set up seperate AC panel.

Almost three weeks! It was abandoned in November (they bought it in Nov. to live aboard, lasted a week and walked away)! They didn't even take personal items. Lots of deep cleaning and repairs saved me about 4K.

I assume you got a clear title before you did all this boat work? In addition to water pump breaker turned off, I open a faucet to drain water to take pressure off the hoses.

Clear title yes! Release the pressure "Brilliant"! I am going to make a pre-operation checklist, operation checklist, and a post-op and close her down checklist. That will go on the list!!!!
