ready for mast tuning

You may remember that I was dismasted following a bulkhead failure on my 77 OD 25 tall rig fin keel on the Chesapeake. This started a 3 month repair job which included replacing port and starboard bulkheads, repairing hole in deck where chainplate pulled through, repairing roller furler extrusion and replacing all standing rigging(new set from Rudy), mast lighting, antenna, windex, maststep etc.

I'm done with the hard work and now have the boat back in the water, the yard has just stepped the mast and I need to tune it. I'm eager for any and all advice regarding this procedure. Does anyone have any good documentation about tuning? Any particular quirks with the OD25 that you have run into before? As always, thanks for your help!

See if you can borrow someone's Loos Gauge that will fit your stays and use that. The tension of the inner stays should be a little less. The thickness of your stays allows you a few choices of tension adjustments. I keep a Loos Gauge on my boat at all times and I lend it to friends in my yacht club on occasions. The gauge takes all the guess work out of mast tuning. Also, it stands to reason that if your using the same number for like stays, the tension is going to be equal all the way around which means that your mast should to be perfectly straight when you're finished.
