Readi Charger

My '83 H34 has what I believe to be the original Readi brand 15 amp "automatic battery charger." Does anyone know if this was a multi-stage charger? It's a 2 bank, 15 amp w/an amnemeter, but it doesn't say whether it's a multi-stage. If it is, it doesn't seem to be broken, so I don't see the point of replacing it. But if it isn't, then I'll swap it out. Anyone Know?

Get charged up!

I found my battery water was getting boiled off often when I used my original charger on my 85 H34.I replaced the original charger last year with one of the new multi stage chargers and went through a whole season with fully charged batteries and never had to add water. I don't believe that the old charger is good for batteries so if you can afford the $100 or so, get one of the new ones.Added the galvanic isolater too.

John, What kind of charger did you buy?

For $100? Getting a battery charger is one of the last projects I want to finish before I put my H34 back in the water. I'm looking for advice on what to look for?

Battery life

Heart make a superb multi stage charger and inverter. I have one on my H34 and it is a great bit of kit. Costs much more than $100 though. Get a smart regulator on your engine too.
