Hello:
You laid out a number of concerns on your purchase of hull #1179, but no
dollar purchase price, nor any other significant criteria were mentioned. I
hope I may add a little help, based on the two Vega's I have owned over the
past 15 years: (#321 and 1868).
First, may I suggest having a professional marine survey by a qualified
person. (Before engaging anybody to do the marine survey, simply ask him /
her if they are quite familiar with the Albin Vega! If not, find someone who
is.....) This is a very special vessel: At least two have circumnavigated
the globe. Some have been "live-aboards" for two (plus) people for extended
periods, at least one has gone to the Antarctic, many have crossed - and
criss-crossed the Atlantic. I could go on - and - on, but you must have
already read several of these commentaries from owners.
I noticed that you are concerned with the condition of the hull finish and
the cooking facilities. These are truly minor!
A very broad estimate from what I have seen, a reasonable price, depending
upon the condition of the engine and the absolute condition of the hull,
spars and rigging would be somewhere in the range of $7,500 to $15,000. Even
more if it has been well cared for. All of this, however is subject to the
words of a qualified marine surveyor.
Good luck and fair winds........
