Beam to Broad Reach
I have our 28.5 semi-race rigged, but never could justify the more expensive adjustable Genoa cars. We do fine with the original equipment, however, we do use snatch blocks out on the rail when racing (non-spin). Placement is different for our deck sweeper 155% than it would be for a higher clewed roller furler. As you bear off the Genoa car should typically be moved forward, then when you are on a beam reach and want to sheet out further, move the snatch block to just under where the genoa sheet crosses the life lines, then take a spare sheet from the clew through the snatch block and swapp it for the genoa sheet that is still under load. I use a set of 3/8" sheets which have reef hooks on their ends so I can hook up or release my light air broad reaching sheets easily. All you need to do to bring the sail back to a close reach is switch back to the sheet thats still running thru the Genoa cars. I also fitted 3" diameter plastic rollers on my life lines just ahead of the forward two staunchions so the Genoa has less of a chance of getting hung up as we bring it inside the life lines.
