Hello Peggy on my long list of projects...this coming layup "after this sailing year" I want to rebuild my plumbing system. The hoses currently installed are ptex?....its the grey 3/8"id semi flexiblble hoses, t's elbows and valves. I was talking with my marina over the weekend and they told me that the practice of today is to install 5/8" id reinforced flex hoses with blue and red codeing for hot and cold......I just installed a new sesor max 4.5gpm pump for my system but I would like to increase the flow out of the shower heads,,maybe as suggested I will install another pump closer to the shower head itself to increase flow.. My question to you is he correct???..is the 5/8"hoses the correct choice for this project? Thanks Rob

Every fresh water pump/plumbing I've ever seen

uses 1/2" plumbing. The only place I know of where 5/8" is used is on tank vents. But, I've been wrong before, so if I were you, I'd use the size specified in the instruction for your new pump.

Tubing size

At what pressure is the pump rated for? How many faucets do you have? How many do you plan to have on at the same time? The reason I ask is; If you have only 2 faucets and plan to use only one at a time you can probably get by with 1/2" tube. If you have 3-5 faucets and the possibility it that some one could turn on a faucet while you are in the shower I would plumb your main branch with 5/8" and the lines going to the faucets with 1/2". For this many faucets your pump is probably too small also. With the right size pump and your piping plumbed as suggested, you should not have a change in temp while showering when someone else uses a faucet.
