The problem with renaming your boat is if you don't do it right it can cause the "Sea Gods" to be upset. Here is what I have found out..........

Re-naming...

I've owned 6 boats in 30 yrs of sailing. I never re-named one until the 5th boat -- which I owned a total of 7 weeks before it was totaled by Hurricane Isabel.*cry My current boat came with a name on the stern. I'm sticking with that name....;D

But what do we blame...

If the name has not been changed? Lots of boats with the original name have been destroyed by hurricanes this year, does that mean by keeping the original name we are inviting disaster?

Doug,, the "Mooring Gods"

It is my understanding that the "Sea Gods" don't have any control at moorings, slips, and berths. Therefore not to be blamed. Maybe some one could expand on this because it is confusing. So many rules and regulations now days. I worry about the boat who's name is "Ralph" or Lucky Bum II and names that are not feminine. "Look at the curves and the sleek lines of that Skip-jack named "Ralph" she sure has that famous Chesapeake dead-rise. Isn't she beautiful?" Yeah Right!
